A deadly virus named HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is behind the occurrence of AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). It impairs the immune system weakening the inherent ability of the body to fight infections and diseases. HIV virus can pass from one person to another through blood or sexual contact as it is found in the body fluids including semen, vaginal fluids, blood and breast milk. It can also be transmitted by blood transfusion and use of contaminated hypodermic needles.
As the metabolism of the body slows down, toxins pollute the system and immunity (ojas) is reduced. If this is allowed to continue, coupled with high-risk exposure to infection, the body fails to resist disease. When all seven body tissues are deteriorated,
multiple disorders occur. Stress, worry, overwork and excessive sexual indulgence further augment the decrease in ojas.
- Weight loss
- Red rashes
- Enlarged glands
- Night sweating
- Sore throat
- Muscular pain
- Joint pain
As per Ayurveda, low ojas or immunity it is main cause of AIDS. With a weaker immune system, the body becomes susceptible to infections and disorders. Our body fights millions of environmental bacteria and viruses every day. With low ojas, these organisms easily enter, remain and reproduce in the body.
Ayurveda has a branch specifically dedicated to increasing immunity and vitality through the use of various herbs, minerals and Ayurvedic practices. It is known as rasayana. It aims at relieving symptoms while treating the cause. Subsequently, the immunity and vitality of the body are boosted using rasayanic therapies.
